I’m looking for a lead developer who’s passionate about people, specifically giving them the tools and mentorship to help them reach their full potential. You’ll be leading a talented team of developers that is set to grow by a further 5 people in the next 9 months.

You’ll be a natural leader who is able to motivate, mentor and manage a diverse group of developers allowing them to grow and meet their career goals. The team are responsible for delivering features on time and using best practice meaning you’ll occasionally be a “hands-on” as a developer. You’ll work closely with key stakeholders within the business and report directly to the CTO.

Day to Day:

  • Promote Agile principles and value delivery.
  • Ensure your team have everything they need to do their job effectively.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements and product features to the CTO and wider business.
  • Drive continuous adoption and integration of relevant new technologies into design.
  • Write clean, maintainable and efficient code.
  • Contribute in all phases of the platform development lifecycle.
  • Follow best practices (TDD/BDD, CI, peer reviews, pair programming, SCRUM).

Requirements:

You’ll have a strong track record as a developer and understand best practice. This role is probably 70% hands-off physically coding but you’ll be expected to be the “go-to” person in the team and pitch in from time to time.

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a development team, ideally in a SCRUM/Agile environment
  • Solid background in PHP development.
  • A strong understanding of development best practices such as TDD, BDD, object-oriented design patterns etc.
  • Experience or knowledge of any of the following is advantageous but not required: Symfony or a similar modern PHP framework.
  • Amazon Web Services or another cloud platform.
  • RESTful API design.
  • Data security standards such as PCI-DSS or ISO 27001.

The Person:
