CTO – Fast-growing PE-backed Managed Service Provider.

We are working exclusively with a fast-growing Managed Service Provider based in the NW in their search for a new CTO who will support the business through an exciting period of growth.

The business has been on an enviable growth trajectory over the last 3 years, through both organic growth and acquisition of strategic targets that have diversified its servicing offering. This has taken the business from being an infrastructure MSP to being a true IT Service partner including Infrastructure Support, Public and Private Cloud Hosting, Cyber Security, DevOps, Software Development and Data Analytics. The CTO will join the main board of the business and be the crucial lynchpin within the operations in making sure all service delivery areas of the business are working efficiently and effectively both internally and externally, along with maximising utilisation and opportunities within the portfolio of Customers.

The Role:

The successful candidate will have operated in a Senior Management capacity within a Technology business for 5+ years, ideally within the MSP or IT Consulting sectors. They will have excellent management, communication and influencing skills as they will be responsible for all aspects of the service offering for the organisation. Within the team there are a number of highly skilled and qualified managers, but this person will need to have the technical knowledge to support these managers whilst providing comprehensive and focused leadership.

Requirements:

  • Track record of working in a fast-growing Technology Service based business
  • Experience of working in business specializing in selling and providing technical solutions for both small and large organisations
  • Excellent leadership/management skills, you will be required to manage a number of teams and must be able to demonstrate examples of leading and growing diverse technical teams
  • Strong communications skills with the ability to communicate with people of all levels both internally and externally
  • Experience of working in a business that sells IT Services including Infrastructure support, Consulting/Professional Services, Cloud, DevOps and Software
  • A healthy obsessiveness about delivering world-class Project and service delivery to every customer. The ability to deliver team and individual output to timeline is critical
  • Ability to maximise utilisation and opportunities within the portfolio of Customers through efficiencies in the operation or the identification of new Technology offerings
  • Demonstrable experience of being able to build excellent external relationships, by adding value through insightful and strategic thought leadership within Tech
  • Client facing experience at both pre-sales/architect and service delivery levels
  • Direct experience in managing vendor relationships, particularly Microsoft

The Person:

  • Previous experience of leading a Technology business as a CTO/IT ’Head of’ role
  • Experience of working within an MSP or IT Consultancy environment
  • High level of technical literacy with a good understanding of cyber security
  • In-depth experience of working with the Microsoft stack of products including Azure, O365, .net, SharePoint etc
  • Comfortable leading and taking ownership, the successful individual will demonstrate a genuine level of care in what they do
  • Ability to be flexible in prioritising and comfortable to refocus at short notice on emerging issues and challenges
  • Experience in leading multifunctional teams and demonstrable success in delivery
  • Forward-thinking mind to have the ability to spot trends “ahead of the curve” to present new offerings to existing clients.
  • Comfortable operating at a Group Board level as well as interaction with the PE partner

The successful candidate who joins the business at this time will be a crucial element in the further growth and expansion over the next 24/36 months. It is an exciting time within the MSP sector, the business is in a prime position to exploit revenue growth opportunities and further acquisitions to consolidate its position as one of the leading MSPs in the North.
