Following our current running theme, we’re examining another area of specialism at Chroma: Business Intelligence. These roles are complex to place, but our clients have been very happy with the results!
Who was it? High-profile e-commerce business.
How large was it? 100+ employees, looking to expand to a £1bn turnover business.
What was the role? Senior BI Analyst – Microsoft stack SSIS / SSRS.
What challenges did we face? We needed to find an accomplished Business Intelligence expert to build processes, review the BI technology landscape and recommend a future roadmap based on a significant increase in data. Alongside this, we had a client with a limited budget that was ‘out of kilter’ with the local market.
Result? We scoured our network and contacted in excess of 40 people with the proposition, and came up with the tactic of targeting people who had potentially begun to feel ‘stagnant’ after a long stay with a single company. After a small number of weekend conversations, we were able to produce a shortlist, and send a small number of carefully selected candidates to interview. The client saw that much value add in one candidate, they offered the job at higher than the initially proposed salary, and the candidate is due to start shortly.
For us, the approach has always been simple: we consult carefully, meeting over 95% of our clients to fully get-to-grips with their company culture, goals and ‘pain points’, and appreciate the direction of their business. We also meet over 95% of our candidates, to ensure we get to know them professionally and personally and understand what it is that makes them tick when it comes to their career. With an agreed plan of action, regular progress updates and continual consulting, we are able to find the best fit for everyone involved.
